Hill Recreational Facility

Preparation

A committee of parents, teachers, and school administrators has investigated possibilities for a longstanding dream: the Hill Recreation Facility. An all encompassing new sports-physical education area is nearing reality

Thanks to the efforts of the Family Association of the elementary school and high school, a significant portion of funds needed for this project is already available. Efforts to date have yielded $232,313.85 toward the estimated $340,000 cost. A beautiful location bordering Major Avenue and the Seton School has been selected as the site. It is anticipated the Hill Recreation Facility Project will take two summers to complete. 

Construction began inJuly 2014 and progress can be seen along the Major Ave fence.

Outcomes

The completion of theHill Recreation Facility will add a new dimension to Hill.

    · Students will have a safe and fun place to play during their recess

    · Physical education teachers will plan outdoor games and challenges for each class.

    · Sports teams will practice here at home more frequently.

    · Summer campers will benefit from an extended physical education program in an outdoor setting.

Start date July 2014

PHASE 1

The area will be leveled and preparation for security lighting with cameras will be laid.

PHASE 2 

A baseball/kickball field and area for table games will be added; one elementary and one high school basketball court will be encircled by a warm-up track, including a long-jump. This area, finished with a flexi-surface, will also be ideal for tennis, volleyball, soccer, and wiffle ball.To complete the project, a games court for hop scotch, four square, and other games will be constructed. Additionally, a storage shed for equipment, a Pergola for shade and fencing will be installed.
