In April of this year, twenty-nine high school students from Howell, Michigan will be representing the State of Michigan in the national finals of the We the People competition in Washington DC. 

This constitutional law competition is far more than a good civics lesson, although that in itself would be a worthwhile endeavor. We the People goes well beyond that, giving students not only the knowledge but the opportunity to use critical thinking to apply the Constitution to contemporary issues. 

Members of the We the People team delve deep into the content of the Constitution. As such, they do far more than merely recite the document's words. They learn about its history, the arguments that forged various amendments and the ways in which opposite interests can refer to the same passage as a way to prove their point. 

Then, they are put on the spot. In competition, they can memorize and rehearse all they want, but they must be ready to quickly think on their feet by answering questions from judges that put their constitutional knowledge to the test. 

As Tea Party supporters and Constitutional Conservatives, we have an opportunity to lend a hand to our next generation of leaders who honor our Constitution as much as we do.  Please consider making a donation $10, $20, $50 or whatever you can afford to help defray the $50,000 in costs associated with their travel to Washington DC.  Let’s once again demonstrate that our movement embraces America’s youth, and America’s Constitution.
