State law requires the campaign to use its best efforts to obtain and report the name, mailing address, occupation, and employer of individuals whose contributions equal or exceed $500 per reporting period. Texas law prohibits corporations and labor organizations from making political contributions to candidates and officeholders. The prohibition does not apply to other organizations, such as partnerships and limited liability companies (LLC), unless they are owned by a corporation or include an incorporated member or partner. There are no dollar limits on the amount of the contribution. Contributions are not deductible for federal income tax purposes.
