Adopt a Troop Project

Texas Army National Guard Headquarters located at Camp Mabry in Austin, 36th Infantry Division, which includes a large number of Central Texas guard members, will take command of up to 12,000 U.S. troops, during deployment in Iraq starting on December 12, 2010. About 800 soldiers, most from Central Texas cities, have already left for Ft. Lewis WA. on their way to Iraq after their training at Camp Mabry.  They will be deployed for the next 10 months and oversee the transition of power in Iraq.  This is only the second major deployment of the 36th Infantry Division headquarters since World War II, when Camp Mabry soldiers were the first American troops to land in Europe. They liberated the concentration camps at Dachau, in Nazi Germany and will now help in Iraq.  They need to know they are supported by us!
