Please join the Texas League of Conservation Voters Educational Fund along with Texans Together to meet a pioneer of environmental activism, Lois Gibbs.
Friday, August 1st • 6PM – 8PM
The Rice Hotel • 909 Texas Avenue Suite 203, Houston, Texas 77002
Lois Marie Gibbs became an iconic environmentalist leader by organizing the infamous Love Canal community, built on a toxic waste site. Her work led to the creation of the Superfund Site designation by the EPA and the relocation of 833 families by Presidential Executive order. Today, Lois mentors other environmental organizers, including Jackie Young of Texans Together, who was recently featured in Houston Chronicle editorial cartoons.
Texans Together, like Lois, is using environmental civic engagement to fight for remediation of the local San Jacinto Superfund Site by full removal of the toxic waste pits.
All proceeds from this event will go to fund environmental civic engagment work in Houston and Harris County.
