Come meet this exciting artist at a lovely beachside setting. Shamsia Hassani, one of Afghanistan's first female street artists, makes vibrant murals and paintings depicting women as strong, independent figures. She received extensive international recognition, media attention and public interest during her two-month residency at UCLA’s Hammer Museum last year. She has brought the world of art to the people, walls and streets of Kabul using huge shockwaves of color and hopeful imagery that promote women in this traditionally male-dominated society. During ArtWalk she will create a mobile eight-foot-by-eight-foot canvas panel on California Street and exhibit her studio work at Vita Art Center through October.

All funds raised will help to cover Shamsia's travel expenses including her flight and stay in Ventura. Space is limited so RSVP ASAP.
