College Republicans

Fellow Republicans,

Utah's College Republicans need your help.  First off, a little bit about the College Republicans (or CR’s).

College Republicans have three main purposes:

1. Provide leadership experience for our future Conservative leaders.

2. Be the worker bee’s for conservative causes and for the Republican Party – provide interns and volunteers for candidates and campaigns, conservative organizations, and for the party itself.

3. Broaden political awareness and promote the principles of the Republican party on campus at Utah’s universities (which we all know, this is sorely needed).

The purpose of the statewide College Republican Board, the Utah Federation of College Republicans or UFCR, is to be #1 resource for College Republican chapters throughout the state.  The problem is we currently do not have ANY financial resources ourselves.  We came into office with a little over 1/10th of what we were expecting, and it has been just enough to get us by up until this point.  If we don't get some funds in soon (even just a couple hundred dollars), we will be extremely limited in our ability to do what we were elected to do.

So how does the UFCR help College Republican chapters?  The three main things CR chapters need are:

1. People – they need to be able to recruit and maintain membership.

2. Network – they need people to go to for speakers to host successful events and activities.

3. Money – if you can’t advertise/do marketing for events, or even pay for the events themselves, you are extremely limited in your abilities.  

Since April of this year the Executive Board of the UFCR has already put together several events - we are hosting three Barbecues in the Northern, Central, and Southern regions of Utah to help meet, organize, and educate Utah's CR's about how to be successful and about what the UFCR can do to help them.  We are planning a number of service projects, especially involving veterans.  We have organized a College Republican Chapter Leadership Training for August 22nd and 23rd to really prepare CR Leadership for the upcoming academic year.  With all of this, we are in serious need of funding in order to do more.

In addition to those events, we as the UFCR Executive Board want to provide chapters with more than just knowledge - we need to pass resources directly on to them.  We want to put together Chapter Boxes full of materials they can use to table, do events, and otherwise promote conservative principles and grow their organizations.  We want to plan and schedule more events and service projects.  Additionally, we want to directly provide College Republican chapters with funds they can use for their clubs.  Chapters need to have some of their own funds in order to fulfill their purposes on their respective campuses and throughout the state.

If we give CR chapters the tools they need to be effective, the chapters will grow, and be successful in promoting conservative principles throughout the state.  Whether you can donate $10 or $1000, we truly mean it when we say:  Every bit helps!  With your help, we can make College Republicans a driving force in Utah Politics, getting Republicans elected at every level of government.
